~* Nike Plus Human Race 10k *~
Sorry for the lagging blog on the human race. I just landed today and although i am quite tired, i still feel like writing this entry so i can delete some pics off my hp.hahaha...
anyway..on 31st Aug 2008, 25 cities around the world had the physical nike plus human race 10k. It was a charity run organized by nike (who else) and in conjunction, a concert was held after the end of the run to spice up the atmosphere and bring the whole event to a climax.
I had the lucky chance of running with one of the celebs that nike had invited to participate in the run, and she is none other than the pretty and VERY FRIENDLY Jessica Tan, 2007 Ms Singapore Universe. I was supposed to be her 'bodyguard' cum pacer and run with her for the whole race. And of cos, when u are with a celeb...how can u not have a pic together?
I must admit here i am not a follower of pageants so when i got to know i am running with her, i had to do some homework so that i could make some conversation on the actual day instead of just running and not talking...it would be so awkward. Hence, on the recommendation of frens, i googled her name and found her blog. Its so much easier when u have a blog so pple can know what u are up to recently and stuff..ahhaa..so i managed to get a few things to tok about with her, and fortunately...everything turns out pretty good:)
Other than Jessica, nike has her own ambassador for the human race, and its none other than Joanne Peh!shes also very friendly and she is damnnnnnnnnnnnn skinny. Also with them is another actress cum model, evelyn maria ng, who acted in shows like Moulmein High and Light years. And i must say all of them are frenly pple despite their celeb status.
As for the race itself, it is one that is very very different from all the others that i have taken part in so far. Along the race route, there are bands singing and jamming the music, lifting the runners spirit as they slog their way through the 10k. Also, the run was not on public road like any other race, it was mostly along the pavement, starting from boat quay to robertson quay and back. Its good scenery and also allow the pple sitting and working in the shops along the quays to have a chance of seeing so many mad pple running ard..ahhaa..
After the run, like i said, there was a concert and the atmosphere was electrifying. Local bands and artistes took turns to entertain the crowd and the finale belows to an Amercian group-Boys Like Gals, who of cos, recieved the most cheers and were the group everyone was waiting for. Though i personally din hear of them and their songs b4, i must say i felt they sing really well LIVE and can connect with the crowd and make them high.
Overall, think its a successful run and hopefully, this will become an annual event and future ones will feature more artistes and celebs and become a trademark of both Nike and Singapore.
JUST DO IT!
