~* 1st day at work *~
Today was my first day at work. And although its like my first day...the pple's reaction in the office was..'ehh how come u are here again?'
Its so funny and weird cos they still thot i was there for some temp work and when i tell them i am gonna be there everyday...they were like..'ohh u finally got a perm job here?congrats!' So nice and frenly of them:) and thats wat i am here for...the frenly pple and the nice work environment.
Basically i did nothing todae except to get my admin stuff such as my email, laptop, stationery and learning how to use some of the online things like leave application and stuff. Other than that, i got a 'induction course' by one of my colleauge. and Nike, being nike...is a running company thats started by runners for runners...so guess wat we did?yes we ran!16km 'induction' run...OMG!considering i had played soccer the previous night and then i jus came back from europe after 2 weeks of no exercise...i almost lost my legs.
But overall..its fun and i really look forward to be able to do my job well and hopefully get a upgrade or promotion soon and move upwards and eventually to where i wanna be(its a secret for now).
Till then...wish me luck. Its sleeping time..i wun bet against having to run another 10km tomolo again. Thanks to the challenge made by my dept to the others...ahhahah..itchy ego

~* Just Got It *~
Finally, after pursuing my dream job for almost a year....i finally got it yesterday! YES...i am now a perm staff in my dream company and in the footwear department..the department i interned in last Dec, the pple that made me feel so welcomed and looking forward to come to work everyday when i had to travel almost 3 hours to and back from my place to work.
It wasn't a smooth path to getting this job. I had to face rejection due to my NS commitments. However, i was determined to get a job there, as long as its a position that suited me and my qualifications...so i volunteered to help out as and when they needed help. I also 'free-lance' to do some research/surveys for them just so that i could stay in the radar.
And as luck would have it, while i was on holiday in Europe, i got a sms from the HR manager and when we talked on the phone, she said that she had a offer for me and ask me to go to the office to sign once i am back from europe. Best of all, i was going to go for a trip with my team to the world HQ in portland next week!WTH!!i was soooo overjoyed and excited upon hearing all this i just said ok without even asking how much the pay was.hahaha...i did eventually found out and it was not too bad though its below wat i wanted. but i am willing to get something lower in order to come into the only company i was thinkin of working for ever since my internship last year.
So while i am going to start work on thurs, i am still thinking how lucky i am to get the job and also to get into the footwear dept again. The guys there are all very nice and i really look forward to working with them again...this time, as their REAL colleague.
I have my dreams fulfilled...and i think that its really impt for all of us to chase our dreams if we have one..cos if we really want it hard enough, one day..we will achieve it.

~* Nike Plus Human Race 10k *~
Sorry for the lagging blog on the human race. I just landed today and although i am quite tired, i still feel like writing this entry so i can delete some pics off my hp.hahaha...
anyway..on 31st Aug 2008, 25 cities around the world had the physical nike plus human race 10k. It was a charity run organized by nike (who else) and in conjunction, a concert was held after the end of the run to spice up the atmosphere and bring the whole event to a climax.
I had the lucky chance of running with one of the celebs that nike had invited to participate in the run, and she is none other than the pretty and VERY FRIENDLY Jessica Tan, 2007 Ms Singapore Universe. I was supposed to be her 'bodyguard' cum pacer and run with her for the whole race. And of cos, when u are with a celeb...how can u not have a pic together?
I must admit here i am not a follower of pageants so when i got to know i am running with her, i had to do some homework so that i could make some conversation on the actual day instead of just running and not talking...it would be so awkward. Hence, on the recommendation of frens, i googled her name and found her blog. Its so much easier when u have a blog so pple can know what u are up to recently and stuff..ahhaa..so i managed to get a few things to tok about with her, and fortunately...everything turns out pretty good:)
Other than Jessica, nike has her own ambassador for the human race, and its none other than Joanne Peh!shes also very friendly and she is damnnnnnnnnnnnn skinny. Also with them is another actress cum model, evelyn maria ng, who acted in shows like Moulmein High and Light years. And i must say all of them are frenly pple despite their celeb status.
As for the race itself, it is one that is very very different from all the others that i have taken part in so far. Along the race route, there are bands singing and jamming the music, lifting the runners spirit as they slog their way through the 10k. Also, the run was not on public road like any other race, it was mostly along the pavement, starting from boat quay to robertson quay and back. Its good scenery and also allow the pple sitting and working in the shops along the quays to have a chance of seeing so many mad pple running ard..ahhaa..
After the run, like i said, there was a concert and the atmosphere was electrifying. Local bands and artistes took turns to entertain the crowd and the finale belows to an Amercian group-Boys Like Gals, who of cos, recieved the most cheers and were the group everyone was waiting for. Though i personally din hear of them and their songs b4, i must say i felt they sing really well LIVE and can connect with the crowd and make them high.
Overall, think its a successful run and hopefully, this will become an annual event and future ones will feature more artistes and celebs and become a trademark of both Nike and Singapore.

~* lesson learnt from my trip to zurich *~
just wanna say something short and sweet about zurich. i learnt from my trip to zurich that....
IF U R A BUDGET TRAVELLER, ZURICH IS THE LAST PLACE U WANNA GO IN EUROPE(besides the scandinavia countries)!
