~* Sg Pools OJT1 *~
I went for my on the job training as a telebettor in singapore pools this morning. The training was supposed to train us to be ready to be an independant telebettor able to help customers who call in to take bets on soccer.
Unfortunately, i was 1 min late and the mentor assigned to coach me was given the privilege of 'nagging' at me for being late.Nonetheless, i admit its my fault but to reach Selegie at 8am from NTU is quite a long journey..so i sort of miscalculated my time.
Anyway, wat was interesting about the training was that at the beginning, my mentor was quite firm and serious and strict when telling me and coaching me about the procedures and call script. Dun be mistaken, hes quite a nice guy, but maybe hes jus putting on a firm front so that i will learn and listen. So i just sat there and listen and ask him stuffs which i am not too sure about. Of cos, he din noe that i worked there b4 during last year's world cup and i already noe most of the procedures and i jus needed some 'refreshing'.
He told me that the training today consist of him teaching me, then i will navigate the mouse to place bets while he talk to the customer, then i will talk to the customer and he navigate, before finally letting me try to do the whole thing.But about an 2 hour into the training, after i navigate about 2 calls that he answered, he jus asked me(i dunno if he was half joking) if i was ready to do the whole thing(answer call and navigate the computer to place bet). I said ok and he was abit surprised too cos afterall, i am just into my first OJT and supposed to be new.
Anyway, i answered a few calls and did everything correctly.So he started talking to me and ask me some casual questions before asking me who introduced me to come for the job.Then i told him i worked b4 in this position during the World Cup last year and he was 'shocked and surprised'. Apparantly the 'world cuppers'(pple who worked during world cup) are abit 'worshipped' cos they sort of experience the WORLD CUP season which was the PEAK and BUSIEST period. So after i told him that, naturally he became less strict and talked to me more like a fellow worker rather than as a mentor.He even say hes my 'si di' cos he actually started work in sg pools later than me..ahhaha..and to be honest, being an ego freak, hearing that was quite satisfying..ahahha.
Anyway, after that, he said he din had to coach me much and basically jus tell mi abt the recent changes and new measures that is in place.So after that, my training time flew past and it ended without any glitches.AHAHAHA...wat a difference a sentence make.
